We are one of more than 9000 parish councils in England and are the first or lowest tier of government. Some of the issues that concern the Parish Council are:
Planning, highways, transport and traffic, community safety, housing, street lighting, allotments, cemeteries, playing fields, community centres, litter, war memorials, seats and shelters, rights of way.
We are funded through taxation called the precept which is collected with the council tax payments. Details of our finances can be found on the FINANCE tab of the website so that you know how we are spending our budget.
Regulations
There is a large body of regulation covering many aspects of our work. The list below is by no means exhaustive, but serves to provide a view of the framework within which we operate. The Parish Councillors, with considerable help from the Parish Clerk, keep up to date with the key aspects of this body of regulation. If you feel that we are missing something important, please get in touch with the Parish Clerk who will be able to help put things right.

We meet on the first Thursday every other month at The Bridge, St. Mary Magdalene Church to discuss the relevant issues and make decisions together. Members of the public are welcome to join us at the meetings. Notice is given on the Facebook page, this website and also on the village noticeboard outside the shop.
You can also speak to at least two Councillors on the third Saturday of each month at the Monthly Market in the Jubilee Hall
